How it works

  1. Contact the SEM RENOV office in your resort to organise an initial meeting.

  2. A visit is organised to establish the renovation programme suitable for your apartment and one which meets the terms of reference.
    At this stage in the project, think about having help from architects or decorators.
  3. A detailed presentation of your renovation project to SEM Rénov' (sketch, description of the furniture, material, textiles...)
  4. Before starting the work, a preliminary dossier must be deposed with SEM Rénov.
  5. Signature of the conventions between yourself, the ski lift company and the Town Hall.
    These conventions remind you of your renovation undertakings and the grants to which you have the right, as well as your 9 year undertaking to rent out the property for 12 weeks/winter (from the first week before the Christmas holidays until the week following Easter). The remaining weeks are available for your personal use (6 weeks for Les Menuires and 9 weeks for Val Thorens).
  6. Realisation of the work either by yourself or by professionals
    Information: certain estate agencies can help you by doing or having done the renovation work on your behalf. Ask the professional who you will be using for further information.
  7. Give the dated and nominative bills to SEM Rénov':
    - If the work has been done by yourself: a minimum of 6 000€ of bills (before tax)
    - If a professional does the work : a minimum of 10 000€ of bills (before tax)
    - If the work is done partly by yourself and partly by a company: a minimum of 10 000€ (before tax)
    The work may benefit from VAT at 5,5%
  8. Control of the renovated apartment (work completely finished) by SEM Rénov'.
  9. Obtaining of a positive agreement for the local government classification and resort label.
  10. Signature of a rental management contact of the apartment with a property professional.
  11. Realisation of the work and winding up of the administative dossier within a maximum delay of 2 years counting from the date that the conventions are signed.
    All the documents will be required at this time : a reception confirmation certificate from SEM Rénov', the contract with a property professional, an electricity safety certificate, bank details
  12. Payment of the grants.
